How we collect it
- Directly from you, when you place an order, create an account, fill in a form, email us or send us a message.
- Automatically, through cookies and similar technology when you use our website.
- From the businesses that help us fulfil your order, such as payment confirmations from our bank and tracking updates from couriers.
You can browse our website without telling us who you are. We do need your name and contact details to sell, deliver and support a product.
Why we use your information
- To process, build and deliver your order, confirm your payment and send your invoice and order updates.
- To provide warranty service, returns and technical support.
- To answer your questions and prepare custom build quotes.
- To send our newsletter and offers, if you have subscribed.
- To keep our website secure and prevent fraud.
- To understand which pages and marketing channels work, so we can improve our website.
- To meet our legal obligations, including tax, accounting and consumer law.
Cookies and website technology
Cookies are small files your browser stores when you visit a website. We use the following:
| Cookie or technology | What it does |
|---|---|
| Shopping cart and session cookies | Remember the items in your cart and your checkout details. Essential for the shop to work. |
| Login cookies | Keep you signed in to your account. Essential if you use an account. |
| Order attribution cookies (names starting with sbjs_) | Record how you found our website, such as a search engine or a social media link, so we can see which channels lead to orders. This is only linked to you if you place an order. |
| Google Fonts | Our website’s fonts load from Google’s servers, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when you visit. |
| WhatsApp chat button | Opens WhatsApp only if you click it. Messages you send are handled by WhatsApp (Meta) under its own privacy policy. |
We do not use advertising or remarketing cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy first. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the cart and checkout need essential cookies to work.
Who we share it with
- Couriers and delivery partners, who need your name, delivery address and phone number to deliver your order.
- Banks and payment providers, to receive payments and send refunds.
- Our website hosting, email and IT service providers, who store data and send emails on our behalf.
- Professional advisers, such as our accountant.
- Government agencies or law enforcement, when the law requires or allows it.
We only share what each provider needs, and we expect them to protect your information and use it only to provide their service to us. We never sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Information stored or sent overseas
Some of the providers we use to run our website and send email store or process information outside Australia, most likely in the United States. Google (fonts) and WhatsApp (Meta) also process data overseas. If you order from outside Australia, we share your delivery details with the couriers and customs authorities needed to get your order to you. We take reasonable steps to make sure these providers protect your information.
Marketing emails
We only send newsletters and offers if you have subscribed or agreed to receive them. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, or you can email us and we will remove you. Emails about your orders, payments and warranty claims are not marketing, so we will still send those.
How we protect your information
Our website uses an encrypted HTTPS connection on every page. Access to customer information is limited to the people who need it, our admin accounts are protected, and we use reputable service providers. No method of sending or storing data is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Orders, invoices and payment records: at least 5 years, to meet Australian tax law.
- Enquiries and messages: for as long as we need them to help you, generally no more than 2 years unless they relate to an order.
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
- Accounts: until you ask us to close yours. Order records are then kept for the period above.
When we no longer need information, we delete it or remove anything that identifies you.
Automated decisions
We do not use computer programs to make decisions about you that significantly affect your rights or interests. Every order, quote and warranty claim is handled by our team.
Accessing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email sales@elitegamingpc.com.au. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge. You can also update your details at any time in My account.
If we cannot delete something, for example an invoice we must keep for tax purposes, we will tell you why.
Children
Our products and website are intended for adults. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to place your order or contact us for you.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, email us with the details. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
