Inside the MSI Katana 15 HX RTX 5070
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Graphics
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 is the heart of this laptop. It is well suited to ray tracing, high-refresh gaming and creative software that uses GPU acceleration, such as video effects, 3D viewport work and rendering in Blender. Pairing it with a QHD screen means you see the extra detail it can produce instead of running everything at 1080p.
Intel Core i7-14650HX Processor
The Intel Core i7-14650HX is a high-performance HX-series mobile processor. HX chips are designed for performance laptops, giving you plenty of multi-threaded headroom for gaming alongside Discord and streaming software, compiling game development projects or exporting video. It keeps the RTX 5070 fed in CPU-heavy games and simulation titles.
16GB DDR5 Memory and 512GB NVMe SSD
The 16GB of DDR5 RAM is installed as 2x8GB, running in a dual-channel layout for fast multitasking and seamless streaming. The 512GB NVMe SSD delivers quick boot times and short game load screens, with room for your Windows install, key apps and a selection of your favourite games.
15.6-Inch QHD 144Hz Display
The 15.6-inch QHD panel runs at 2560×1440 with a 144Hz refresh rate. That combination gives you noticeably crisper text, textures and timelines than a Full HD screen, while 144Hz keeps fast motion smooth in shooters and racing games. It is also a practical size for editing on the go, with more screen real estate for tool panels than 1080p.
Black Chassis and Everyday Portability
The black chassis has a sleek, aggressive look that fits modern gaming setups without being over the top in a lecture theatre or office. As a 15.6-inch gaming laptop, the MSI Katana 15 HX RTX 5070 is compact enough to move between your desk, uni and a mate’s place for LAN sessions.
